Volunteers Opportunities

The Metropolitan Baptist Center is a ministry of volunteers.  We are constantly seeking Christian people to come alongside us and work for the Lord.  You may be interested in helping in one of the ministries we do, or you may have a burden to start something new.

Here are a few of our ministries:

Food and Clothing Pantry.
The MBC expresses the love of Jesus Christ through meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of people.  We provide emergency food and clothing assistance to anyone in need.  We also provide support through Christian care giving, Bible studies, recovery program and job placement.  Working under the direction of the Holy Spirit, our desire is that people will come to know Jesus as Lord.

Women’s Ministries.
Because many of our clients are women, we have sought ways to meet the needs of women.  We work closely with Nehemiah House ministry to provide mentoring and Bible Studies.  We also provide care giving services to single women with children as well as senior citizens needing help.

Apartment Ministries.
Many opportunities exist to work with children.  Since 1998 we have worked closely with Indianapolis Housing Authority to provide a weeklong summer camp for children living in apartments.  We have also provided Christmas Parties and gifts to children during the Christmas Season.

Metro Mission Mania.
The Center seeks ways to take the ministry to where people live.  We are committed to serving as a catalyst for mission groups and churches to go into the inner city and bring the gospel.  During the summer months we provide 7 weeks of missions.  Youth groups as well as other church groups are invited to help in the work.  (see Metro Mission Mania page for more details).

Urban Congregation.
An urban congregation meets in the Center’s facilities.  Cornerstone Christian Fellowship is a multicultural church representing the diversity of downtown Indianapolis.  Although a separate organization from the Center, the two work together to share the gospel and disciple those coming to know Christ.  Opportunity exists to help teach, led music, serve a meal, drive a van, on a short term commitment. For more information contact Pastor Tom Polak.

Other possibilities:  Medical missions, Christian counseling, Financial Counseling, Home Economics classes, Computer classes, GED, ESL, Parenting Classes….and many more.
